Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa & Kaki Blue

Had a great experience doing Merong Mahawangsa in Istana Budaya. Got to work with knowledgeable actors like Sham Sunder, Radhi Khalid (though not directly), and also Megat. Also learnt a lot on how to keep the energy up and also keep safe in doing a role which demands physical movements. (no Sham, the chapatti didn't help, though it did keep me warm. Hehe)

Though I did hit my self on my back and a few bruises here and there. But no worries, so far everything is fine. :)

Friends that matter already gave me a piece of their mind about the play. Some good, some bad, as usual. Don't want to say it here, until i have the Teh Tarik session with Marina, which should be soon.

On another note, rehearsals for Kaki Blue :The Musical have already started, 1 day after Merong closes.

Come to think of it, this year has been hectic. Been jum,ping from productions straight to productions non-stop. Started with KLPac Open day, then Stage Theraphy, straight to Merong and now Kaki Blue. Alhamdulillah, means i get to learn more, from more people!

There are 30 actors in the cast list, so am still struggling to remember names. 2 Rehearsals so far. We did a reading of the script, which was fun. The script is witty and has so many underlying tone. The songs are cool too!

Really need to improve my singing. Honestly, I'm nnervous. And the other performers are really really good!

Can't wait for Movement rehearsals tomorrow. bet it's going to be so much fun!

Mata Menyorot Ganas di Pelita

Aku rasa mata aku menyorot ganas. Tiba-tiba rasa nak maki orang. Girlfriend aku yang sexy sedang makan tandoori ayam. "Tak nak", jawapannya bila mamak Pelita ni cuba membuat 'push-selling' tandoori bersama cheese naan. Lahabau betul, nak untung aja mamak ni.

Sedap sangat ke tandoori ayam tu sampai dia buat tak tahu kat aku? Aku ada buat silap ke sampai dia bagi aku silent treatment? Deserve ke aku dengan keadaan ni? Aku, saudagar kaya yang empunya BMW 7 series. Walau pun kerja aku hari hari menipu orang, tapi still, duit halal. At least aku bayar Zakat.

Ya, walaupun aku baru kalah tender berharga 5 juta hari ni dengan syarikat anak ikan yang baru muncul, aku masih ingat agama. Aku tak salahkan tuhan.

Aku tahu. Aku kena buat sesuatu yang macho. Aku kena redeem kemachoan aku. Tapi aku kena cari target yang mudah.

"Ko tahu dak budak budak keliling ni tunggu masa jek". Aku menggunakan budak-budak melayu di keliling tu sebagai backup. Haha. Tau chuak. Semua tunduk. Haha, aku lah tuhan. Semua sembah aku sekarang.

Ya, aku dah biasa buat havoc macam ni. Dekat Pelita ni je dah 7 kali. Mamak ni pon dah kenal aku. Ni belom lagi kat Seri Devi's, Tanjung, Kapitan, dan beberapa mamak yang aku tak ingat namanya sebab semua agak generic.

Itupun, berani lagi mamak kat sini nak push sell tandoori ayam dengan cheese naan kat girlfriend aku. Cis. Keju.

"Kau dari mana?", aku tanya. Mati akal aku. Kalau aku cakap "apa tengok tengok?". Kang gaduh kang.

"Subang"

"Ni Malaysia tau, jaga sikit. Respect kena jaga"

Declan Donnellan on Acting

Found an interesting read. Title is The Actor and The Target by Declan Donnelan, an associate director of the National Theatre, London.

The book deals with freeing an actor from 'blockages' like focusing too much on what to do? how to feel? where the actor is? etc etc. The author discusses all this in a very generic manner that i think that it can also be applied in real life.

No, this is not the "acting is life, and life is acting, to act is to breathe, and to breath is to live" bullshit. Well, not in the philosophical sense, at least.

It deals more with psychological stuff. Like how we perceive experience, How do we focus on something else other than ourself, how to differentiate between ourself, and the 'I' we see.

Yes, you can have ego, and you might think about what people would say when you do things. Because you want to make sure you are the best amongst everyone. But when the shit hits the fan (not his actual words), who else would help you, but yourself? So f*ck what everyone else thinks. (also not his actual words). Just make sure you make your own decision to your own best judgement. That is all you have to know.

If you catch yourself giving excuses, most of the time it is because you need to justify your incompetence, and by doing so you feel more happy.

Siti Nurhaliza can have the best voice. If you have a kodok voice, then practice. If you don't achieve Siti Nurhaliza's voice, then at least your voice is better than a kodok's. The important thing is that you try your best.

Nuang Report

SO.. Nuang was great! Except for the sore muscles.. but it is a good kind of sore.(notice the present tense used) The ones you get after a good work out.

Time records:

Ranger Station -> Lolo Campsite : 1 hr 20 minutes
(one night rest)
Lolo Campsite -> Peak of Nuang : 2 Hrs 45 min
Peak of Nuang -> Lolo Campsite : 1 Hr 30 min
(2 Hr rest)

Stamina wise, this time was much better than the previous hike. Mostly due to proper food and proper rest. The previous hike (3 years ago):

Thanx to cheepox, i finally managed to watch Slumdog Millionaire. Had very little expectations (although i heard of the hoo-haah). I can say that it is one of the must watch movies.

There is another Tapai?

Was looking through KLUE website to find things to do over the weekend. Quite surprised to see a familiar name...: Tapai (Which is what my friends call me btw).

Now wait a minute....?

I was not invited to perform in a gig. And i am not a musician (or not up to standard just yet), and i don't belong to any band. (This one in particular is named G-Strings). Quite interesting. humm?

This is quite funny, coz i had just finished watching Zack and Miri (dont judge my taste of movies, it was Rodek's!), and the guy, (Zack) met anoher guy name Zack too. So they would bump into each other in school and would say to each other in the highlander-ish tone :"There can be only one!".

Nuang

It has been years since the last climb. Can't wait to go up Mt Nuang again. This would be the 5th time. Originally it was supposed to be tomorrow, but since we are having a CNY get together, we decided to postpone it to Monday morning. Hope we still have the energy to climb (since I know it is going to be a late night thing!). It is going to be 4898ft to the top, but we are going half way on the first day (3-4 hours walk), and to the top the next morning (3-4 hours walk). So it should be fine.

Lots of memories up there. Lots of things happened. but I don't want to get nostalgic.

Since this is quite an impromptu thing, it is still open if anybody wants to join in. Come lah, but we only have 1 tent so far, so you might need to find your own tent. I'll be sleeping outside on my trusty hammock.

Mount Nuang (Malay: Gunung Nuang) is located in Malaysia with the height of 1,493 metres (4,898 ft). Its peak marks the meeting point of three Malaysian states; Negeri Sembilan, Pahang dan Selangor. The mountain itself is the highest point in Selangor and part of the Titiwangsa Mountains.

There are three hiking routes to the peak and all of them were built by Malaysian Department of Wildlife and National Parks. Two of them start in Selangor; one at Kuala Pangsoon in Hulu Langat and another at Kampung Kemensah in Gombak. The third path originates from Bukit Tinggi in Bentong, Pahang. Genting Highlands is visible at night from the peak.

Random Rant

Nini said something smart today. (She is smart everyday.. but today.. especially)

The reason why some people are very gung ho and are able to deal with ambiguity, and not think too much, is because they have the " if somebody else can do it, it is possible, so i can too", attitude.

Although, I feel that there is this variable left out of the equation. Some people have higher tolerance for "masa susah", and some less. So, might not work for everyone.

But generally, think the above saying can be applied. It is just that we need to sometimes think of the worst case. In papa's words: "Yang penting hati bulat, everything else is secondary"

An uncle once said to me," You nak buat business?, kalau sanggup duduk tepi jalan merempat, then you bukak business, because that is the worst thing, bankruptcy"

Quite true. But a bit too drama for my liking. :P.

Hannah, why won't you just listen to me? Can't we just talk about this? Like we used to? Do you remember back when we would just sit and talk, about whatever popped into our heads, and we never fought or argued? We used to be so happy... Whatever happened?

Something changed- I don't know if it was you, or if it was me, but something's just not the same. It's like we're... not the same. I mean, I love you, and I know you love me, but there's just something missing. It's like we're a secondhand puzzle- we used to be beautiful and fit together perfectly, but over the years some pieces have been worn down, and some just got lost along the way.

Please don't cry Hannah, not your fault. Or mine. It's just that sometimes things just don't work out like you think they will. That's life. And you know that I don't want this to end just like you don't. But I look at you, and I see that you're not happy. That's all I really want- just to see you smile, like you used to. 

..Even if that's not with me.

And who knows? Maybe all we need is a break. A chance to explore life on our own for awhile. I just want you to be happy, because that's what you deserve. If I could take away the hurt and all the bad things out of your life, I would in a heartbeat. If only this were a perfect world, maybe things would've turned out differently. 

God! I really had hoped you would pick up the phone, but maybe you'll give me a call sometime. If you call, I'll answer, and Hannah, remember that no matter how bad things may seem, no matter how many wrong turns you take, I will always be just a phone call away.

Hehe. Chemistry.

So what is good chemistry u ask? Well, u just ask yourself. 

If you can just sit and talk for hours. And not feel any moment pass by.

If you can talk about the crappest things, and also the most intelligent things.

If you can be urself.

If you have inside jokes and secret signals that only the two of you know.

If you can hang out with a person for 2-3 hours straight, and then feel that you miss them 10 minutes after you part ways.

But careful though. Some times, chemistry is just chemistry. Though you catch yourself thinking that there can be more to it,  sometimes it is just best to have things the way they are.

Because sometimes that THAT, is as good as it gets.

Just be careful for what u wish for. Because if you wish for chemistry, THAT is what you get.

Nothing less? for sure. Nothing more? Maybe... or maybe not.
